A message from Our Vietnam Generation

Dear Vietnam Veterans,

Well they said it couldn’t be done, they said it would never be supported, they told me its a story no one was interested in. well guess what they were all wrong and wrong in a big way. Thanks to many supporters of all kinds and especially the support of one very caring dude by the name of Bob Gillette and American House Senior Living Center you my friends will be having one amazing celebration for your generation.

The Theme for the night will be ” We Shall Never Forget” Chapter 9 and Chapter 154 have worked with me on this production and upcoming event for the last 16 months. My intention is that on Jan 28th the FOX attendees will walk out of there with a much greater understanding of who is a Vietnam veteran, what they went through and why they are so important to our society today. I cannot not turn the back the hands of time but I can sure help our everyday folk and generations to come better understand all of you.

So here is a few things you all need to know about the Jan 28th evening.

Pace your yourselves. I know some of you are feeling your age. This is not a stop by see a film and leave kind of night. This is a invest yourself into the Vietnam Generation evening, make sure your family and friends understand this. We have one shot at this and I want to do it right.

During the course of the evening we will have a wide range of stage activities as well as the film premieres. One event that will take place that all of you will need to be prepared for is the singing of the various branch songs of the military. The US Army 126 National Guard

Marching band along with singer Stewart Francke accompanied by the Corner stone Children’s choir will sing each branch song.
In the audience will be active members of the armed services. They will stand and any of you that would like to proudly be heard hopefully will stand as well. It should be quite the moment to see and hear in the FOX.

One Soldiers Story ” a short film about a young man Sgt. Michel Ingram who was killed in the line of duty in April while serving in Afghanistan.

This is a short film, I’ve been asked why are we showing this. Its simple when he retuned home to his family it was the Vietnam veteran who was there for the family, need I say more. You will see this play out in the film. Our Vietnam Generation of course is the big film. 110 min. Its kind of funny how that time worked out. I filmed 110 -one hour tapes over the last 16 months.

We will have the DVD there that night, the DVD is almost 3 hours with many extras. I have a attached a pre-order sheet for anyone. Note its cash and carry that night only. Any large whole sale orders you will need to use the attached form. I would imagine some chapters will want to buy some and use the DVD as a revenue producer.

Capt. Ivan Castro of 7th Special Forces from Ft. Bragg will be speaking. He was trained by Vietnam veterans. He was blinded in the line of duty in Iraq in 2006. He has become a very dear friend who I have spent much time with documenting his life for another film which took me fours years to produce called Can You see How I See? Its a film about what it is like to be blind.

I will premiere this film the next night on Jan 29th in Birmingham to a first come audience of only 300. Capt. Castro will speak that night as well but it will be about what happened to him and how has he adapted. He is still active duty. A truly amazing guy. Please do read the attached.

Back to the FOX event. We still have seats available. I would very much like to see us fill the FOX like we did last year for the film premiere Detroit Our Greatest Generation.

This is a link to a radio show I did yesterday with Paul W. Smith for WJR New Talk Radio. Please use this to pass on to friends to entice them to come. Remember this night will be a great educational experience for all who attend as well as a wonderful night of entertainment.

I very much look forward to seeing all of you at the FOX..
