The Most Disgraceful VA in the Nation

The ongoing disgraceful disrespect toward America’s Veterans and the American Flag at the Los Angeles Veterans Home and Hospital defies anything in modern-day history.

There’s an embarrassingly torn and tattered American Flag at the entryway of the largest VA in the nation and it is outside the Wadsworth Hospital where disabled Veterans are trying to heal from their war injuries sustained while defending the American Flag. And it’s been that way for more than two weeks.

The U.S. Flag Code states that “The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.”

VA’s Disgraceful Flag Salute to Senator Kennedy

Secretary Shinseki was notified two weeks ago about this current disaster, and instead of ordering his VA bureaucrats to remove the current torn, tattered and disgraced Flag, they went home for the weekend and left it in full view of Veteran patients and the passing public since it is highly visible from Wilshire Boulevard, one of the busiest streets in the Nation.

The VA bureaucrats claim they have a Flag on order and will replace it on Monday.

Anyone who lives in West LA knows that AAA Flag, one of the largest flag and banner companies in the Nation has volumes of American Flags readily on hand, and in any size imaginable. They are less than 10 minutes away from the VA, even in heavy traffic.

But rather than show respect to the Glory of our American Flag and those who defend it, these disgusting bureaucrats leave it in full view and go home.

During the Senator Kennedy half-staff fiasco, a group of Veterans threatened to remove the four torn Flags and the bureaucrats sent the VA police out to protect the disgraced Flags and to keep the Flags from being removed, which supposedly would be a federal crime.

Go figure, Donna Beiter, the executive director, is already a federal criminal — having been adjudicated in U.S. Federal Court for violating a Veterans Constitutional Right to the First Amendment — which is a federal crime.

She’s still employed by the federal government and continues to violate her Oath of Office to support and defend the Constitution. Now, she tramples on the sanctity of the American Flag in full view of disabled Veterans who are convalescing at the Hospital.

The Los Angeles VA has a $750 million annual budget with nearly 5,000 employees and they cannot replace one torn and tattered American Flag.

If this many federal employees and that much money cannot replace a $75 dollar American Flag to honor our Veterans and National emblem, what does it say about this Administration?

The VA recently spent $50 million on a solar panel project at the Los Angeles property that is a boondoggle, and they don’t have $75 for an American Flag.

This VA is in Henry Waxman’s 30th Congressional District and his office in LA was notified nearly a week ago and asked to provide a Flag, but they declined, and remain silent

Secretary Shinseki has been notified repeatedly about the previous Flag fiasco and this current one, and he remains noncompliant and silent.

Thus, this national disgrace and the 75 bucks for an American Flag stops at President Obama’s desk.

The VA police at the Los Angeles VA, many who are Veterans, need to go to this main entryway flagpole and the one at the Veterans Garden, and immediately remove these disgraced Flags.

They are always under dictatorial orders from the VA bureaucrats, and it is time for them to do the honorable thing and remove these Flags now, and on Monday, when Donna Beiter and Ralph Tillman come onto Veterans property, they need to place them under arrest for a multitude of violations, including abusing government property and harmful neglect to Veteran patients.

Donna Beiter and Secretary Shinseki are already Defendants in a major lawsuit by the ACLU for mismanaging Veterans property and abusing severely disabled and homeless Veterans.

Not only are the American Flags they fly unfit for public display, but they are unfit for public service.

The Los Angeles VA under their command is the biggest in the Nation, and it is also the biggest disgrace in the Nation.

President Obama needs to come out and clean house posthaste, or this will be a major campaign problem for him. Americans love our Veterans because we love their freedom and independence.
