Wired.com has an interesting article posted today on an odd Pentagon research project. They are attempting to produce bacteria that cannot die. Odd. Why? What in the name of all reason would we need something like this for relative to any national defense need?
This is something right out of a horror flick. Why does our government need an organism that cannot die? What purpose would it serve? Don’t we have better uses for that money right now?
The piece is entitled Pentagon Looks to Breed Immortal ‘Synthetic Organisms,’ Molecular Kill-Switch Included .
I swear, the more I learn about the government machinations of the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave, the more I feel like I am in Xanadu, or at least, its dark side. We need that money for other things right now.
The entire ‘mad scientist’ thing can wait until we can get our people back to work, our 716 overseas military bases called back to the Imperial City, our working class soliders involved in ‘national defense’ and not ‘national offense’ and our homes filled up again with American families and not in mortgage default.
Who makes these decisions? Reality is a whole lot crazier than the Horror Channel could ever depict.
