Ugly American at Heart of US Pakistan Dysfunctional Relationship

8
Contemporary world has witnessed new heights of coercive diplomacy. A public statement by President Obama declaring Raymond Davis a diplomat and asking Pakistan for his repatriation was overkill; indeed it was a diplomatic faux pas. American media was forbidden to mention the killer’s connection to CIA; ‘free and fair’ media faithfully obliged the government, until British media spilled the beans.

Gilad Atzmon: Hasbara’s Smear Fell Apart Again

4
As funny as it may sound, Harry's Place -- the infamous Israeli propaganda website and Neocon outlet that rushed to advocate Blair’s criminal wars -- is now desperately insisting on mounting pressure on venues to stop me from spreading the necessary message about Israel and its lobbies. Harry’s Place -- The Zionist mouthpiece website that has managed to collate no less than 157 entries on anti racist watchdog Islamophobia Watch -- blames me for being a racist. It is almost amusing.

A Retrospective Against GOP Revisionism

15
One of the founding fathers of conservative thought was Alexander Hamilton. He was an aristocrat who advocated that poor and middle-class Americans should be relegated to second-class citizenship, and the GOP has fully embraced his agenda. While Hamilton’s position was resoundingly rejected by the vast majority of the founding fathers - whose primary reason for coming to America in the first place was to get away from the European class system - there were many of Hamilton’s ilk who chose not to recognize the American ideal that “All men [and women] are created equal.” Then they were later joined by Southern Dixiecrats, or social bigots, who also rejected the ideal of human equality.

Considerations – Libyan Invasion

47
Broadcast media has noted that Lt. Col. Kaddafi has threatened to use chemical warfare agents against protestors in his unhappy country. Much was made of Libya’s announcement in the early part of the 21st century regarding Libya destroying its stockpile of WMD’s. Well… O.K., maybe, kinda, sorta? Does the Colonel have stocks of weapons grade chemical agents and the delivery systems to employ them?

Impotent Power of Words

7
There are so many reports and articles on PTSD that you'd think it is a well known issue everyone knows about. Unlike the ads for erectile dysfunction (ED) so well searched for the term pops up with just "erec" typed into Google or Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) medication, we don't see ads for medications for PTSD. How did these topics end up with multi-million dollar ad campaigns? Was it out of the goodness of their hearts corporations paid to spread the word? No, they have a product to sell so they spread the word about issues a lot of people suffered with silently. RA is painful but did not come with a stigma attached to it. Erectile dysfunction had a huge "shame" factor, so men didn't talk about it while women complained to their friends about it.

Jim W. Dean…A Crazy Prophet, by Uri Avnery

I was working on my Mid East revolution piece and having the usual revolution problem. You put it down for a few hours to put some other fires out and new information requires a total rewrite. I finally focused in on a theme that I was sure would not be ancient history in week...Western hypocrisy and the original War of Terror we conducted on the Mid East.

ARAB UPRISINGS: Time-Out For Israel Is Over

39
The Arabic street is the one who is calling the shots now, the coming Arab policies will try and reflect the pulse of the Arabic street. The united Arab sounds are to be heard at last where no American veto could come out to obliterate the truth and where no need to waste more than one million innocent Arabs to allegedly get rid of a dictator.

Silvia Cattori Interviews Gilad Atzmon

1
Gilad Atzmon is an outstandingly charming man. He is often described by music critics as one of the finest contemporary jazz saxophonists. But Atzmon is more than just a musician: for those who follow events in the Middle East, he is considered to be one of the most credible voices amongst Israeli opponents. In the last decade he has relentlessly exposed and denounced barbarian Israeli policies. Just before his departure on a European Spring Tour, “The Tide Has Changed “, with his band the Orient House Ensemble, he spoke to Silvia Cattori.

RAYMOND DAVIS: CAN IMRAN KHAN SAVE AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH PAKSITAN?

49
The standoff between the United States and Pakistan over the arrest of contractor Raymond Davis is not going to be solved unless both nations take a step into that "no man's land" of trust and honesty. There is no question about diplomatic status, this was a clumsy mistake made by State Department officials in Washington who had little or no understanding of the legal and political issues at stake. Recent admissions that Davis is "CIA" mean nothing. Nobody knows what "CIA" means anymore, not since the wave of privatization that has spread to many of America's critical security functions.

Marines Delta Battery 20 Years Gulf War Reunion

7
Again the ill Gulf War Veterans are the ones doing the outreach and getting the word out, it is a shame they don't even provide grants for outreach work nor rooms for veterans to use when attending VA RAC GWI meetings. Nor do they encourage interaction and sharing of important health care providers and research being done at annual type meeting for Gulf War Researchers both Civilian and VA. Much less having Civilian and VA Providers also involved fully in caring for Gulf War Veterans. There is a need for these type meetings and meetings should be open to veterans. These meetings also need videoconferencing live and archived and available openly on the internet!

RAND CLIFFORD : The Bull

5
The term “motion pictures” is rather archaic nowadays, but there’s nothing archaic about W.C.’s insightful wisdom—almost 80 years ago spinning a clear image of precisely where we are in 2010. Indeed, ours is a confusing time of wars over fossil energy, imperialism, secrecy, disinformation, massive upward transfer of wealth, economic collapse, environmental devastation and, well, bullshit. We’ve actually been deep in the stuff since even before Woodrow Wilson, the 28th President of the United States, wrote a more sobering scenario:

Report Details Agent Orange use at Fort Detrick

3
Fort Detrick has released a preliminary archive search report on its past Agent Orange use as the Kristen Renee Foundation began to ramp up its efforts to prove that the Army post caused a cancer cluster in Frederick. According to the report, which was posted online Tuesday, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers found that Fort Detrick tested an estimated 16.82 pounds of Agent Orange and similar defoliants between 1944 and 1951.

From Afghanistan: We Support the People of Wisconsin and the World

3
Afghan youth are quietly encouraged by the Egyptian uprising because the people of Afghanistan want what the people of Egypt want. We are all Bouazizi. We want dignified livelihoods. Dare any scientist prove to us that 30 years of wars and more to come will successfully bring us decent livelihoods? Dare any human being prove to us that mutual killings somehow bring men and women some measure of murderous dignity?

James A. Bunker: Desert Storm Vets Still Fightin

4
Twenty years ago this country’s best men and women were engaged in combat with the forces of Saddam Hussein after his August 2nd, 1990 invasion of Kuwait. In February 1991, my men and I knew we had what it would take to liberate the people of Kuwait. We had years of training and good leaders in our chain of command, as did many of the other units in the U.S. Army. We were confident in our combat capabilities, yet we had great concern about the prospect of having to face the chemical weaponry that we knew Iraq possessed. For weeks before the ground phase of Operation Desert Storm began, the prevailing winds had been blowing out of Iraq. We prayed that on G-day the winds would turn in our favor and blow back in the direction of Saddam’s forces. This we hoped would minimize the chances that the Iraqi Army would use their massive chemical stockpiles against us.

Military Ethics: ‘Do the Right Thing’

3
(SALEM, OR) - The Navy and Marine Corps are faced with the choice of ‘doing the right thing’ by supporting legislation to provide medical care and compensation to those injured from exposure to environmental hazards while on active duty or facing the backlash of a public outcry for not doing so, including lawsuits from dependents and civilian workers that could run into the billions of dollars.

VA Marks 20th Anniversary of Ground Combat in Gulf

1
WASHINGTON – On Feb. 23, the men and women of the Department of Veterans Affairs will mark the 20th anniversary of the start of ground combat in the 1990-1991 Gulf War. Fighting ended 100 hours later after a U.S.-led coalition drove Iraqi forces from the small nation of Kuwait.

TIME FOR AMERICANS TO FACE THE TRUTH (VIDEO)

50
Few Americans remember Operation Cast Lead. Jews in America were told Israel had to finish off Hamas in order to protect itself. We can't get into exactly how fanciful and utterly false everything American Jews are told or even the childishly ignorant statements President Obama and Secretary Clinton make on a regular basis. They make me cringe. They should make all of us here in America ashamed, Jews and non-Jews alike.
