Donate your vehicle to Purple Heart

The Military Order of the Purple Heart is a Congressionally chartered non-profit organization that has been dedicated to helping veterans for over 70 years. Over 300,000 donors have trusted Purple Heart with their vehicle donation. Donation Information:

  • All donated items are tax deductible.
  • Purple Heart issues donors a tax-deductible donation receipt.
  • Donors must have a title with no outstanding liens for their donated vehicle.
  • Purple Heart can arrange to have your vehicle towed or you may drive it to one of our facilities.
  • Office hours are Monday through Friday 9AM to 6:30PM (EST) and Saturday 9AM to 5PM (EST).

How to Donate: 

Purple Heart has strived to make the donation process easy and pleasant for vehicle donors. To donate your vehicle, you may donate online by completing our easy to use donation form, or call our toll-free number (888-414-4483) and our friendly staff will walk you through the donation process. Either way, the process is quick and easy.

Once we have your donation information, one of our towing companies will contact you to schedule a convenient date to pick up your vehicle. When the towing company arrives to pick up your vehicle, they will also pick up the title and keys for the vehicle. If you are not going to be home when the vehicle is picked up, you will need to advise the towing company specifically where in the vehicle you will be leaving the title and keys. The towing company will leave you a towing receipt showing that your vehicle was picked up on behalf of Purple Heart. Once Purple Heart is in possession of your donated vehicle and title, we will mail your donation receipt in approximately 10 business days.

Q: Who is the Military Order of the Purple Heart?
A: Chartered by Congress, the Military Order of the Purple Heart is a national organization composed of combat wounded veterans who have been awarded the Purple Heart medal.

Q: How does the Purple Heart make a difference?

Q: How does the tax deduction work?
A: You can determine the fair market value of your vehicle up to $500 or you can deduct the amount we sell it for, whichever is greater.

Q: Do I need a title to donate?
A: Yes. You must have a clear title (no liens) to donate your vehicle. If there is a lien holder and/or a secured party listed on the title, we must have a copy of the lien released along with the title even if the lien has been paid off.

Q: How does my donated vehicle get picked up?
A: After you have made arrangements to donate your vehicle, one of our professional towing companies will call you to arrange a convenient date to pick up your vehicle.
