JUST KNOW I DON’T WANT TO WRITE ANY OF THIS

MY HEAD IS STARTING TO HURT "REAL BAD"

By Gordon Duff STAFF WRITER

The "mainstream" veterans organization are before Congress with their agendas today.  These are good agendas and what they are asking for is necessary and current, a good response to the disaster we find ourselves in.

Where the hell was everyone the last 65 years?

Is this a Rip Van Winkle thing, where veterans organizations suddenly woke up, sort of, from a deep sleep finding a million disability claims missing, vets homeless living under bridges and hospitals murdering their patients?

I am not writing this for any of our veterans.  None of them need to read any of this.  Stop right here, you will be wasting your time.

The guys and gals I am talking to are in Congress.  You are the ones who, year after year, see the same faces in front of you, either from the VA or the service organizations.  On rare occasions, crippled and maimed will be dragged into Congress and put on display to attempt to shame a government paralyzed with ineptitude and corruption into effective action.

It has all been a waste of time.

Most of you folks, you know who I am talking to, are either lawyers or are surrounded by them.  You are very aware that every scandal tied to the DVA involves misconduct that could be expressed, minimally as waste or gross negligence, but more likely as fraud, misfeasance, malfeasance and, yes, even racketeering.

How in the name of all that is holy do you expect to fix anything when a veteran can’t even get a piece of mail thru to the VA without it being destroyed?

How can you fund medical care when you can’t be remotely sure that dirty needles and infected equipment isn’t being used?

Did everyone simply wake up from a dream?  How is it that NOBODY is responsible for anything?

Don’t some VA employees have medical licenses, doctors, nurses and such?  Aren’t many of these scandals clear evidence that medical professionals are being allowed to work outside any acceptable treatment standard in the civilized world?

I don’t want anyone to be surprised.  This isn’t the first time this has been put on your desk.  A million unprocessed claims may also mean 2 million abandoned claims.

Frankly, the numbers may be higher than that.

Simply look at "backdating."  The VA has, for years, been receiving claims and changing the dates on them, not just at one office and not for one year, but across the country and for decades.

Can you imagine the suffering this has caused?

Think of 3 hurricane Katrina’s and you will be getting close.
