This Franchise Is All About Junk Removal–And Helping Veterans Find Jobs

Many veterans face a tough time finding work when they re-enter the civilian world. A former Army man himself, Jerry Flanagan started a junk removal franchise to do something about the problema.

Called JDog Junk Removal  & Hauling–JDog is Flanagan’s nickname–the Berwyn, Pa-based company sells franchises only to veterans and their family members. They recycle and repurpose a lot of the material they collect; the rest they get rid of. Since Jan. 2015, 61 franchises have been opened by over 100 franchisees, each of whom employs two to five other veterans. Franchisees, who have to supply their own, suitable truck and trailer, need to invest a total of about $50,000 to get started, according to Flanagan.
