Young war veterans are calling for better emotional support for those returning from service in Afghanistan.
The head of a new young vets outreach group says both the Defence Department and the RSL need to try harder to help the young vets.
Retired Major Andrew Johnston says he too suffers post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as do many others, but to admit so is taboo within the army.
“Effectively I was made to feel obsolete,” he said.
“I had little compensation advice and very little transition assistance to public life.
“Counselling needs to be part of a complete package.
“There needs to be forms of vocation rehabilitation.
