Unthinkable moral depravity grips US

Gordon Duff, senior editor at VT, made the remarks in a phone interview with Press TV on Thursday, commenting on the US military’s approval of the term “Negro” or “Haitian” for black troops.
According to Stars and Stripes, US Army regulations published last month allow a black or African-American service member to be categorized with the term “Negro” or “Haitian.” Duff said there is great discrimination in the US military against African-Americans, Hispanics and particularly women.

“Within the military…there are tens of thousands of women – now maybe even more than a hundred thousand women in the US military,” he said, adding that “sexual assaults in the military are at the incredible rate.”

He went on to say that “nearly every commanding officer, from the highest level generals down, are accused of the sexual assaults.”
Rape accusations are rampant in the US military and the issue has sparked calls for a radical overhaul of its judicial system. About 26,000 incidents of sexual assault and unwanted sexual contact were reported in 2012 in the US military, according to a Pentagon study.
Of those, only 3,374 cases were reported. In 2013, a new pentagon report said that 5,061 service members reported cases of sexual assault.

“Racial prejudice, sexual assaults [and] religious prejudice” are very much part of the United States’ military and its culture said Duff, a marine combat veteran of the Vietnam War. “No country stands perfect, but these things are celebrated now” in the United States.

Talking about Tuesday’s midterm elections, Duff said that “they were all about divisions.”
Duff further said that one great thing that has happened in the last few years in the US was that we had a first African-American president, “after over a century of incredible injustice.”

“And yet millions of millions of Americans hate” President Obama for his color, he observed. “This is the United States that no longer tries to achieve anything…There is moral depravity going on here that is almost unthinkable,” he noted.
