BLAMING BUT MORE EXPLANATIONS NEEDED, PLEASE HELP US UNDERSTAND

By Gordon Duff STAFF WRITER

For weeks and actually years, a 388 acre tract near some very expensive real estate in Los Angeles has been fought over by developers, the Army Reserve, maybe a phony local group, the VA and veterans groups.  Articles have abounded blaming Democratic politicians tied to wealthy Californians as part of the problem but no documentation has been offered.

The groups, one with prolific writer and conservative blogger Bob Rosebrock and a vet group called  Veterans United for Truth claim Democrats are ganging up on vets.  This may be true but no proof has been offered, and if Henry Waxman, long friend of veterans and long enemy of the VA, is responsible, please put something in here tying Waxman to the group involved.

Waxman appears, let me say "appears" to be trying to save the land for vets.  His newsletter states this but I respect a local who is more in tuned with the real situation than a newsletter.  So, please give us a real tie in with Waxman and the land thieves.

The vets group is an odd one.  Listing Michael Dukakis as Chairman, it talks anti-war, leftist, but lists politicians who are about 60% strongly anti-veteran and conservative on its website along with a number of very liberal, pro-veteran members of congress.  This makes no sense at all.  It sounds like a empty shell front group unless I am mistaken.  It has a very different agenda than www.votevets.com, the more respected group that seems to check out who it supports with much more care.

The biggest problem, of course, is that the culprit involved is James Nicholson, Bush Secretary of Veterans Affairs whose name is never mentioned.  Rosebrock is quick to go after Democrats, but Nicholson is the primary target of all the groups involved, chosen by Bush to gut the VA and its land holdings, has resigned in disgrace but is being defended by the group that claims the problems Nicholson caused were caused by others.  Something smells here.  Nicholson is, in fact, the "VA bigshot" that is the cause of the problem.

Do we, maybe have a group with a political agenda beating the drum of "poor veterans" while playing political games in an election year?

If someone can explain otherwise, present some documentation and support some of these inconsistencies, please do.  Good information could get some of us involved.  Thus far we either have half baked stories presented by people with law degrees who should have the skills to make more sense.  The more I read, the less any of this makes sense.  Someone please explain it better with less baloney.

If Waxman can be tied to this game, be certain that I will be on board 100%.  Let us know how the Westside group ties to both the Bush Administration and the Democrats.  We can see Bush leading the attack and if he and prominent Democrats are working together in California against veterans, we need to get the word out.  If we are making some mistakes, we need to focus better.  We have managed to confuse the hell out of me for sure.
