NO CONSPIRACY IMPOSSIBLE WITH PRESS COMPLICITY

THE SILENT DEATH OF THE AMERICAN DEMOCRACY

Recently, a Bush aide being investigated for helping rig the 2004 election died in a mysterious air crash in Ohio.  You won’t hear about it unless you live in Europe.  Money to fund these operations which may well have successfully undermined our American political system came from, among other places Coingate, a fraud unreported except in local Ohio papers.  Millions in public funds were stolen in a conspiracy that goes right into the Whitehouse, perhaps even to the presidency.  Top GOP operative, Tom Noe, friend of Bush and Rove with connections to CIA drug running, is now doing 20 years in prison for these crimes. With national news media receiving "talking points" from the Bush administration on a daily basis and the FBI receiving marching orders from Alberto Gonzales, nothing was done.

It didn’t start here, not by a long shot.  During my lifetime, the primary coverups had been, until the Bush Administration, the 3 assassinations.  Kennedy, Kennedy and King were murdered with the investigations being quashed by the FBI and blue ribbon commissions.  Decades later, John and Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King are forgotten victims whose legacy, perhaps the strongest voices for American freedom in our last hundred years, unknown and even defamed by a media serving unseen masters. 

Key politicans destroyed America’s savings and loan institutions during the Reagan Administration with over a trillion dollars disappearing into Bush family coffers and the pockets of other key Republicans.  A secret deal was likely cut by Reagan staff, prior to his presidency, to keep American diplomats prisoner in Iran.  It is called the "October Surprise" but is unreported, uninvestigated and forgotten.  This was followed up by Iran Contra, involving massive drug dealing on the part of Whitehouse officials, weapons being sent to our enemies and every law on our books being broken.

Each of these scandals was a dozen times more serious than Watergate but, as time has moved on, the ability of the powerful to do anything, from having the Supreme Court overthrow a presidential election to possibly arranging a massive terror attack on America as justification for an illegal war leading to the largest financial scandal in world history, has gotten little more than a whimper from the press.

So what, if Oswald was at a vending machine and not shooting Kennedy and witness after witness said so?  So what if the FBI murdered a president?  Controlling the news and controlling history, no matter how blatant the lies, is nothing anymore.  Look around you and see how brazen our new crop of tyrants has become.

In criminal investigation, a detective looks for MEANS, MOTIVE AND OPPORTUNITY.  This is the assumptive basis for proof of a criminal act and the basis for our criminal justice system.  Be it running the heroin business in Afghanistan, setting up the illegal invasion of Iraq, covering up the collapse of our economy, the rigging of oil and commodity prices or the simple "fixing" of a couple of presidential elections, these and many more "conspiracies" could be easily solved by the most mundane of TV detectives.

MEANS

Whether rigging an election or opening the door to trillions of dollars of stolen investor funds, control of regulatory agencies, investigatory authorities and the courts is the first basis of means by which a government or government and key special interest groups, can commit crimes.  Reinforced by over a dozen unsupervised spy organizations and huge private intelligence and black op’s groups like Blackwater, under the direct control of party loyalists, you add the ability to arrange for "accidents" or to force silence and even complicity from all but the most foolhardy.

With the courts and law enforcement authorities under control and all military leaders who object "retired" and moved aside, there is little that can’t be imagined that can’t be done. 

MOTIVE

Power and money are the primary motives.  When a political party is directly controlled by financial groups, like Carlyle, who tie questionable international capital into control of defense industries that profit on a massive scale from policies that support global destabilization and continual warfare, proving motive is nothing.  The Cheney/Haliburton connection and the massive fraud in Iraq or the endless billions of ill gotten gains from rigging gasoline prices or stealing Iraqi oil are only a couple of more.  The list would be endless.

OPPORTUNITY

This is where the press comes in.  To the innocent, it is selling independence for "access."  Tell what you are told or be kept out in the cold.  For some it is simply laziness or unwillingness to risk being called "soft on terrorism" for standing up to tyrants with the resources to crush anyone who opposes them.  For more in the press, corporate ownership and direct ties to defense industry giants guarantees complicity.  For some press groups, like Fox and others, direct complicity in acts of tyranny that may actually include participation in planning itself is a possibility.  Who reports on the reporters?   

If an investigation can be controlled, prosecution directed toward others, we call that "the Gonzales effect" and the press controlled, the only safeguard we have against our own government stealing our freedoms, starting unjust wars or arranging terrorist attacks on our own soil is the morality of our leaders.
