As we say Farewell to the “Disaster In Chief”, many things come to mind.
As we went from a flawed election, decided by a Supreme Court Judge that placed George W Bush, in the annals of history. Starting from controversy, ending in controversy, pretty much describes the tale of the tape.
Many of us that voted, and were duped the first time around, essentially we were sold a bill of goods called, “Compassionate Conservatism”. A relatively benign term, full of extraordinary hope and promise. When the snow melted, and in lightning speed, what was revealed was not the proverbial mound of feces, but an endless cesspool.
I thank God for the technology called, “channel skip” and the “mute” buttons on my remote TV control. Without these two valuable features, the horror of his visual would have been immensely scarring. I often found myself, that if I needed to view this “Anomaly in Chief”, it was on the Comedy Central Network. Where he was dissected and ridiculed to no end, thank you Comedy Central, as you were a life saver.
Occasionally, as I filliped through channels, I would wind up on the “BNC” Channel, or “Bush News Channel, aka Fox News. In a happenstance of maybe an interview of their revered leader, done I dare say, “fairly for the mentally or the politically unbalanced’, hence their tag line, “fair and balanced”.
Where, one would conceivably want to laugh, then one is reminded of the devastation, the lies, the illegality, immorality, taken to depths. yet unseen. The constitution was a joke, separation of powers a joke, allies and the UN also a joke. A constant theme emerged from his great tenure, was to look at one of the axis of his evils namely, North Korea. Their great leader does no wrong, leading his people to great disasters, and immense suffering. Their state TV channel, looks like the Fox News Channel, less the logo.
When history analyzes, his great legacy, it will invariably look at the “Hero to Below Zero” theory. Starting from 9-11, where invariably we had so much sympathy to being the most scorned nation on the face of the planet. When further analyzed, this case study, becomes a “How Not To Do Manuel”, sold in all the Home Dept Stores.
The Bushisms touted as jokes, on many news outlets, reveal a dark individual, devoid of conciseness, devoid of intellect and most of all remorse. "War is more delightful to those who have never experienced it”. As he avoided deployment to Vietnam, by getting stationed in Alabama, seemingly to protect Alabama against invasion from the North Vietnamese.
We learn much about his character. We now know, what we did not know then. We know the type of individuals he surrounded himself with. We know, not that some were flawed, but how disturbing the flaws. It is certainly fitting, that in his exit, we are in the midst of one of the greatest economic disasters and worst International reputation, in our lifetime. Why was our country so “privileged” as he stated in his farewell speech that he had the “privilege” to serve. No Mr Bush, the privilege was our’s sir, and I say well done, and oh by the way, “Mission Accomplished”.
