What if we sparked a bull market by becoming a veterans bloc of buyers?

The world is in serious trouble.  GM stock sold for less than $2 dollars a share yesterday. Today’s New York Times ran a brief concise article on the beginning of the implosion of the world’s stock markets called "Slump Humbling Blue-Chip Stocks".

Now, what does this have to do with American veterans?  Well, everything.  Many of , millions of us, survive on government largesse.  We have no real way to make an adequate living, so we need our pensions to survive.  Pensions do not come from out of the sky, they come from the General Revenue Fund which is in turn financed by tax revenues.  If people do not have jobs, there are no tax revenues to support pensions.  In the long run, this stock market fall and global financial dismemberment will threaten our pensions.  So, what do we do?

Well, there are about 25 million American veterans and roughly 2 million active and reserve members of the U.S. Armed Forces. If we all bought $100 dollars worth of stock this year that would $2 billion 700 million dollars worth of stock…that is not enough to turn this around but it is enough to spark a buying frenzy on Wall Street.  Now, how should this be done?

Well, there are several options.  We could pick one group of stocks and buy that, allowing that group of stocks to lead the way into a bull market, a bull market we veterans created.  Or we could buy $100 worth of the stock of our choice.  That would spread the money around evenly theoretically and have a similar effect, theoretically.  Or we could buy municipal bonds and finance the workings of our local communities.

But the point is that (1) this money would not be an "investment" in the proper sense of the term because in the long run we would not really be gaining any income, we might in fact be throwing money away but I believe that $2 billion 700 million dollars spent on a mass purchase of American stocks with a period of four fiscal quarters by American veterans and Service members would be enough spark to set this market on fire.

I think we could actually bring a bull market back on line in a year.

Anyone who is a veteran with solid financial educational background who wants to take charge of this….go for it.  I said my piece.
