The Marine Corps Association (MCA) is the largest provider of awards to Marines.  They gave out over 8,600 in 2008 alone, with more requests coming in each year.  They are the largest professional association supporting Marines with over 85,000 members.  They can only continue to support these awards through the support and growth of their membership.

They also organize and coordinate Professional Military Education forums for the Marine Expeditionary Forces, as well as other units.

Their PME’s feature prominent speakers, either individually or as panel members, offering insights and perspectives on historical or current military-related topics. Recurring professional education events include two MCA Ground Dinners, two Combat Development Dinners, an annual MCA C4 Awards Dinner, and an annual MCA Ground Logistics Awards Dinner — all of which are co-hosted by HQMC. Plus they host their own MCA Annual Dinners that have featured Dr. Robert M. Gates and Gordon England as speakers. These dinners are all held in the metropolitan DC area, but they also host PME luncheons at Camp Lejeune, MCAS Beaufort, and Camp Pendleton.

MCA carries the entire Professional Reading list on their online store and also in their brick and mortar stores which are at Camp Lejeune and Quantico. Plus, the Marine Corps Association recently purchased The Marine Shop so that they can support Marines’ uniform and accessories needs.

Moreover, they host the MCA Career Center where businesses can post jobs to attract Marines who peruse their site. Marines can also post their resumes on this site. There is no charge to Marines for posting resumes.

Your benefits include your choice of the online or print editions of Leatherneck or the Marine Corps Gazette. You save a few extra dollars (up to 24%) on your membership by going with the ecologically friendly online edition. You’ll also earn discounts on college tuition at Grantham University, computer discounts from Dell and Apple, discounts on Military Historical Tours, Inc., great insurance terms, and advantageous car rental prices from Hertz, Avis, and Dollar/Thrifty.

They do understand that with the current economic situation, it’s tough to find the money to spend on an association membership. But membership in MCA is one of the best investments you can make in the lives of young Marines, while helping you keep in touch with the Corps.

You can also save money on purchases by using MCA’s website ONE STOP SHOPPING and shopping at walmart.com, overstock.com, FTD, and scores of other companies. These are discounts you can’t get by shopping at their websites. MCA memberships also make great gifts for those Marines on your gift lists!
