If you worked at the Evansville Shipyard during the early 1940s or are a veteran of World War II, James Goodall WANTS YOU!
Goodall is the coordinator of this year’s mock D-Day battle, set for June 6-7 alongside the LST 325 at Marina Point.Since June 6 is the 65th anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy, organizers are planning a 4:30 p.m. ceremony that day to honor World War II veterans and also shipyard workers who produced 167 LSTs similar to the 325.So far, about 40 people have contacted him, but Goodall believes many more are unaware of the event.
“The World War II generation is passing away fast now,” said Goodall, “and this ceremony will be the last hurrah.”
