This may seem strange coming from a staff writer in Central Illinois but here is the inside information. The Oregon Air Show is coming to Portland Hillsboro Airport August 28, 29 & 30. Performers include the Blue Angels and the Golden Knights. Static displays include A USAF F-15, a Huey, a Cobra, a Blackhawk helicopter.
This year ALL VETERANS and ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY get free general admission to the show.
The Airshow was underfire earlier this year when plans were announced to have the Dignity Wall Experience on the show grounds. This would have required anyone wanting to visit the wall to pay an admission charge for the airshow. These plans were scratched once veterans from around the country inundated the organizers with emails and phone calls voicing objection to the plans.
The Airshow donates thousands of dolars to local charities and is a not-for-profit organization. The admission of veterans and active duty free is new this year all that is required is a DD214 or military ID.
Now for the good news to you who have read this article. I have VIP passes for two to the Sunday show Gates open at 9 show starts at 10:30. The VIP passes include admission for 2, reserved seating in the Dignity Chalet, food and drink and a parking pass for VIP parking. The first person to send me an email with their name address and the words Oregon Airshow will receive these passes.
