McChrystal's 'victory' dance – Dana Milbank, W.P.

Stanley McChrystalIn today’s Washington Post there is a snapshot article written by Dana Milbank showing us what General McChrystal told Congress the other day relative to his reasons for ramping up this war.  He was every inch the careful word parsing debater.  That does not say much for a general I am afraid.

I am more than a little uneasy about all this.  Young American lives are at stake, to say nothing about those of Pakistanis and Afghanis.  This is not even to mention the fact that billions of American dollars are being spent on a military exercise that is…how shall I say this?…less than inspiring.

I have been asking myself for months now, what is this really all about?  I still have not been able to find a satisfactory answer.  I flat out do not believe what the government is telling us.  There is much more to this "ramping up" in Afghanistan than we are being told.

The article is entitled McChrystal’s ‘victory’ dance and is a good read for anyone looking to find out the thinking of the general who will be forever known as the man who argued forcefully for ramping up the Afghanistan War.
