What Vets Need From the Prez

The failure to answer 90 percent of calls says a lot about the VA. As the second-largest bureaucracy in the country, it continues to be a model of how not to run government programs. Forget all of Washington's buzz words: transparency, efficiency, fiscal responsibly. We need the administration to try a new term, "customer service." These veterans aren't calling to order an iPad, they're trying to take advantage of a historic benefit that was promised to them by Congress and this president.

Breaking down the FY 2011 Veterans Affairs Budget

Military Environmental Hazards Bill Faces Hurdles

The bill requires Camp Lejeune veterans and dependents to pay TRICARE health insurance premiums, which makes them eligible for hospital care, medical services, and nursing home. The bill requires that this health care be provided within 90 days of the enactment of the bill. However, directing DOD to provide health benefits to Camp Lejeune water contamination survivors is a little bit like leading a horse to water.

The official mission of his unit, the 45th Chemical Company, was to create smoke screens for infantry assaults.
