HOUSE VETERANS’ AFFAIRS SUBCOMMITTEE ON DISABILITY ASSISTANCE AND MEMORIAL AFFAIRS HELD MARKUP

Veterans March on Washington and Meet with Chairman Buyers

Washington, D.C.Today, Chairman Jeff Miller (R-FL-01) of the House Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs held a markup of H.R. 1220, the Veterans’ Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2005.  The bill would also codify the 2005 dollar amounts for disability compensation and dependency and indemnity compensation.

“With this bill, service-connected veterans and their survivors will receive a cost-of-living adjustment to their compensation and dependency and indemnity benefits effective December 1, 2005,” Chairman Miller said.  “Congress has provided annual cost-of-living increases each year since 1976, and I am pleased the Subcommittee today continued to recognize the importance of these rate increases.” ….

The full Committee is expected to markup the bill next week for floor action before the July 4 recess.
