HOUSE COMMITTEE ON VETERANS’ AFFAIRS TO HOLD HEARING

Veterans Affairs Secretary Nicholson Will Testify

Washington, D.C. Tomorrow, the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs will hold a hearing to examine supplemental healthcare funding for the VA for FY 2005 and implication for FY 2006.  Last week, during a House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs hearing, held to examine healthcare cost forecasting, Chairman Buyer uncovered key weaknesses in the processes used by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to forecast healthcare demand and shape budgets.

The development of accurate and adequate VA budgets is of prime importance to Chairman Buyer.

Let’s find the right numbers, let’s get the budgeting process right, he said, emphasizing that he wants a process that allows VA to produce accurate budget forecasts and not just estimates.
