Nevada Gov. Guinn statement on Death of Navy Seal, Shane Patton

CARSON CITY Gov. Kenny Guinn issued the following statement today regarding the death of Navy SEAL Shane Patton, of Boulder City, who was killed in action Tuesday, June 28, when the MH-47 Chinook Helicopter he was riding in was shot down by insurgent forces in Eastern Afghanistan.

Patton was the son of Las Vegas Municipal Court Marshall James JJ Patton, a former Navy SEAL. The 2000 graduate of Boulder City High School enlisted in the U.S. Armed Forces shortly after graduation…….

“I was deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Shane Patton, Gov. Guinn said. He was a fine young man whose accomplishments in the military we can all be proud of.

Dema and I wish to extend our deepest sympathies to Shane’s family and friends during this difficult time. Shane risked his life to protect the freedoms that all Americans cherish; sadly this act of bravery cost him his life.

For his honor and patriotism, all of Nevada is eternally grateful. We will not soon forget this young man’s heroic service to our Country.
