Pentagon Hosts Ceremony for National POW/MIA Recognition Day
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Richard Myers will host the Pentagon ceremony for National POW/MIA Recognition Day at the River Parade Field on Friday, Sept. 16, at 11 am. EDT. Rep. Duncan Hunter, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee and a Vietnam veteran, will be the guest speaker.
The President is expected to issue a proclamation commemorating Friday’s observances and reminding the nation of those Americans who have sacrificed so muchfor their country.
Friday’s Pentagon ceremony will feature troops from each of the military services.
Members of the media without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the North Parking Entrance only. Plan to arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.
