Fake Company Scamming Veterans
Kevin MacDonald

A company who calls themselves Patient Care Group is claiming the VA has changed the way it delivers prescription drugs, but it’s a scam.

“A lot of people can be susceptible to it and will give out the information thinking hey they’re bettering the system,” Jim Bunker, Veterans Information Network, said.

The company is asking for personal information like credit card and social security numbers to ensure vets they’ll still get their medication.

“Here’s these guys that have went out and they’ve done the best they could for their country and now someone wants to scam them,” Bunker said.

Bunker, a VA member, created the Veterans Information Network to protect aging vets.

“The World War II, Korean and Vietnam vets are starting to get older and older. Now all of a sudden there’s these people praying on them,” Bunker said…

He’s telling his fellow vets to be on the lookout, and that the VA is not changing its prescription process.

“All veterans must keep this in mind that if somebody calls you changing a plan or anything and they say ‘I need your credit card number or your bank account number,’ hang up the phone, it’s fraud, it’s a scam. Nobody should be calling you asking for that number,” Bunker said.

It’s unclear exactly how many veterans have been contacted by the fake company, but if you have you’re urged to call the Commission for Veterans’ Affairs at 1-800-827-1000.
