An open letter to Rush Limbaugh
by John P. Allen, General Manager of VT

Dear. Mr. Rush Limbaugh,

To disagree with Mr. Michael J. Fox’s position on Stem Cell Research and even the positions of the politicians he supports is expected and honored.  However, to make fun of his illness just to make a political point is completely over the line.

Mr. Limbaugh, you have the right to make fun of the sick.  As U.S. Veterans, that’s a right that’s proudly defended on your behalf.  However, to be more effective, you might consider going back to grade school where children who are trying to make points with their immature peers make fun of fat kids, the sick, and old people.  That might work for you…………..

You see making fun of the sick and ill in the mass media and presenting this to us adults demonstrates your lack of character and renders you a silly person with a microphone.  Is this how we are to win friends and influence people?  How embarrassing!

Rush, the problem is that you are in a position of leadership and people actually listen to you. You used to be relevlant.  However it’s this behavior that can no longer be acceptable as it affects our collective social conscience in a profound and negative way.  You see, lack of cooth and decorem must now be rejected as a matter of protecting and empowering our national soul.  Oh, and stop yelling already I am exercising my right to change the channel.  No worries, I am done listening to you, well unless I am in the mood for childish humor.

Please know that I will be calling up your bosses and respectfully asking for your immediate firing as a matter for the common good.  Finally, I will be sharing how I feel with everyone I speak with and directly with our U.S. Veterans.   You really need to be outed sir!  It’s not acceptable anymore.

Oh and maybe you would like to make fun of us as wellgo for it, it’s your right. We won’t stop you.  In fact, our Veterans have protected that right for you Mr. Limbaugh.  Will you extend us the same rights or will you merely make fun of us too?

Look Michael J. Fox is not only an icon for the 1980’s but is a true brave hero.  He has guts going on TV in his condition. I am not sure I could do the same.  He is NOT acting.  He is ill.  Where’s the empathy man?  What kind of person are you?  Don’t you see man, you not earning your role as a leader or a voice for anybody.

Rush, this is not just about Democrats or Republicans, this is about all Americans and for those around the world who once looked up to us and hope to do so again someday.  We can’t go on like this Rush…..can’t you see buddy, it’s killing our country!  Leadership is about responsibility.  It’s about setting the example….

……Bill Clinton?  Good Speaker but hey man, that Monica thing is just not acceptable!  George W. Bush lying about going to war?  Not Acceptable!  Hastert doing nothing about a pathetic congressman on the prowl?  Not Acceptable!  Making Fun of People with Parkinson’s Disease?  Not Acceptable!  Are you getting it man?

Look, excercising a political right to support a position, Mr. Fox is stating his case.  Disagree with him!  Agree with him!  Let him speak and you decide!  Vote Man! That’s what America is Rush!  However, without a geniune vision and idea, you, Mr. Limbaugh choose to make fun of his illness.  What is that about?

Hey buddy, we do have a leader here and his name is NOT Rush!  In fact, there is only one sick person in the Rush vs. Marty McFly saga and that’s the guy who looks like Biff!  Where’s your mom dude? You need a swift kick in the pants!

Rush, please save us and start doing good.  Your First Action for the New Rush?  Resign your post and let someone else lead.  No worries, my 7 year old will reserve a spot for you at recess!

Have a Great VT Day!

POST SCRIPT: Look folks, it does NOT matter whether you are for or against stem cell research.  Who cares if your a Republican or Democrat or something else.  This lack of debate on the issues caused by politicians and pundits on all sides that use childish name calling to defame the opponent is no longer effective.  In fact, we Americans, all Americans are getting sick of it.  It’s making us ill.  We have serious problems in our country today and the future is at stake.  We need a national discourse, debate, and leaders who present a vision, a hope for the future that can inspire us.  This go nowhere behavior offers us nothing but despair.  So remember to put America first people and reject all that refuse to lead but yet want a title to lead.  Leadership is earned, not given because one knows how to make fun of others.

Leaders who don’t lead are no longer acceptable!

For those of you who read this and are equally as upset as I, please take action. Speak out. Reject the low behavior and demand better.

You can email Rush Limbaugh at [email protected] and tell him how you feel.

Peace, Love, and Unity
John P. Allen
