A Letter To Our Troops From Charlie Daniels

Dear men and women who wear the uniform of the military of America,

I sometimes wonder what it must be like to pick up a newspaper and read some supposed military analyst's assessment of the war you're fighting, some left wing America hating, miliphobic nut case who tells a totally different story of what's happening than what you're experiencing.

I can only guess what it must be like to be risking your life on a daily basis and turning on a television to see Ted Kennedy saying that you're not making the world a safer place by destroying Saddam and his cruel regime.

I can only wonder at the frustration you must feel when a scumbag like this Arkin guy who works for NBC and the Washington Post calls you mercenaries and says that you're supplied with obscene amenities…

I know you can see through the lies of Harry Reid when he says he supports the troops but not the war and yet doesn't have the guts to do anything more than sign a non-binding resolution which is not worth the paper it's written on.

But I have a bigger reason for writing this letter than to talk about gutless politicians and that is to let you know that no matter what the New York Times and Washington Post say, no matter what CNN and the three major networks spout off, us regular people in this country honor you and the mission you're on.

The world is a safer place since the demise of Saddam and his demented sons. And for the first time in decades the people of Iraq have a chance to have a hand in their own destiny.

I believe with all my heart that the people you're fighting are dedicated to the destruction of us and our way of life and that if you don't stop them over there they'll find a way to bring their evil to this country.

I have been among you in Iraq and Afghanistan and I've seen the caliber of men and women in our Armed Forces and in my opinion many in Congress and the media are not worthy to clean the mud off your combat boots.

You are the cream of American youth, your calling is noble and honorable and my admiration for you knows no bounds.

As far as this Arkin character is concerned, I wish we could arrange for him to be dropped off in downtown Baghdad about midnight one night. I wonder if he'd be seeking the help of the Mercenaries?

Pray for our troops.

What do you think?

God Bless America
