Job Boards for U.S. Veterans Get Net Evaluated

VeteransToday.com puts the Job Sites to the Test

by Frank Daley

As the veterans community increases from America’s prolonged conflicts around the world, so does its need to find jobs. As a result, there has been a plethora of job boards launched to meet the new market demand. Most of the job boards on on the net, while noble, are not productive. They are not actively marketed and designed poorly. However, there are handful of professional sites run by world class management that are producing results. At VeteransToday.com, we wanted to check on these sites and rate them from a net perspective to see how they pan out using independent tests.

We rated the top 7 sites. Before we present the results, we need to define a few terms for you so that you can make your own conclusions……here we go!

LINK POPULARITY

Link popularity is a measure of the quantity and quality of other web sites that link to a specific site on the World Wide Web. It is an example of the move by search engines towards off-the-page-criteria to determine quality content. In theory, off-the-page-criteria adds the aspect of impartiality to search engine rankings.

Link popularity plays an important role in the visibility of a web site among the top of the search results. Indeed, some search engines require at least one or more links coming to a web site, otherwise they will drop it from their index.

Search engines such as Google use a special link analysis system to rank web pages. Citations from other WWW authors help to define a site’s reputation. The philosophy of link popularity is that important sites will attract many links. Content-poor sites will have difficulty attracting any links. Link popularity assumes that not all incoming links are equal, as an inbound link from a major directory carries more weight than an inbound link from an obscure personal home page. In other words, the quality of incoming links counts more than sheer numbers of them.

SEARCH ENGINE SATURATION

Search Engine Saturation simply refers to the number of pages a given search engine has in its index for your website domain. Not all search engines report this information but enough of them do to create some meaningful benchmarks for your search engine marketing campaigns.

CONCLUSION
All the sites rated above are not created equal. Some are price heavy and some are stronger in their net saturation justifying a stronger price point. However, they all provide valued service. In terms of Jobseekers, the success of the sites above is good news for all veterans because when Jobseekers post their resumes on these sites, it increases their exposure to help get them the job offers they seek.

In the end, it’s all about helping or veterans get great jobs and for that, we applaud all the job sites and their strong managements.

Good Job!
