AGM Imports, a leading east coast provider of granite to the building industry, is hiring U.S. Veterans.

John Antunes, a native of Portugal, is the owner and President of family owned AGM Imports. John entered the stone business in 1981 at Long Island, New York. Recognizing the growth and quality of homes in the Low Country, John with his wife Alice (Vice President) and their three children moved to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina in 1994.

Other dedicated employees followed John and AGM Imports took birth servicing the Southeast with quality granite and marble. As business grew with more people wanting the beauty of granite countertops, expansion was necessary and John opened a warehouse outside of Atlanta, Georgia in the year 2000.

Quick service and fast delivery is what fabricators want and a third AGM Imports warehouse was opened in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2003. Opening soon in 2005 will be the AGM Imports warehouse in Charleston, South Carolina as John continues to bring the AGM Imports stone inventory closer to the fabricators and their customers.

John Antunes has many international connections, multilingual skills and a unique knowledge of stone, which in his travels to Portugal, Italy, Brazil and other countries enables him to have purchasing power and selection of premium quality stone. As proof of John's purchasing power, homeowners, decorators and builders are invited to visit our warehouses and showrooms and select the actual stone that will adorn your home or business.

With more than 10,000 slabs and over 250 varieties you will marvel at the beauty of our imported granite, marble and travertines. AGM Imports warehouses have been described as Art Museums.

Dimension stone has its own unique qualitites that not only distinguish it from man made materials but also should be considered in selecting it for a particular project. Stone is not manufactured; it is a product of nature. Blocks are removed from quarries, slabs are cut from these blocks and the slabs are further fabricated into the final stone to be installed. Each block is different. Each slab is different and unique. In contrast to the repetitive sameness of material produced by machine or assembly line, dimension stone's naturally varied appearance has wonderful character. It is the uniqueness and difference that makes granite so popular today.

Next to diamond, granite is the hardest natural stone available. Because of its low absorbtion rate, granite is less prone to staining and is also heat resistant making it ideal for surface tops. The grain of one stone is never equal to another which means the texture of granite is like a fingerprint. Granite surface tops have a smooth high gloss finish that exacts the elegance and beauty of the material while maintaining its duribility.

Today's consumer is offered a wide range of surfacing materials for use in countertop applications. Once in service, these countertop surfaces will be exposed to a variety of contaminative substances. The key safety issue to the consumer is the degree of clean ability of the surface material, that is, how easily any contaminants can be removed using normal cleaning practices.
