I'm tired of hearing about the next Presidential election already.  I'm tired of hearing who has raised how much money and I'm really sick and tired of hearing about Hillary and Obama, Romney and Giuliani.     

I’m tired of hearing about the next Presidential election already.  I’m tired of hearing who has raised how much money and I’m really sick and tired of hearing about Hillary and Obama, Romney and Giuliani.  I don’t give a damn how much Edwards spends on a hair cut.  I don’t care how many wives Giuliani has had, and I really am not interested in Romney’s religion or anything about Hillary.  Frankly, I’m tired of the Bush/Clinton/Bush cycle and hope with every fiber of my being that we get out of that this election term. 

The talking heads of our media are acting like my old cocker spaniel, Jake, that piddled on the floor when he got too excited.  The election is still over a year in the future.  There are so many other things going on in the world that are deserving of our attention and our time.  In fact, many things are MORE deserving of our time.

Here’s my list of things that are more important than the long list of Presidential Candidates:

End the U.S. Occupation of Iraq.  Bring our sons and daughters home and take care of them properly when they come home.  Make sure they have what they need.  We never should have been in Iraq to begin with.  I don’t know what to do to help the people of Iraq that we have so severely decimated, but I do know they want us out of their country. 

Global Warming.  Let’s consider that our whole way of life will have to change.  We must consider renewable energy sources and we are all going to have to change our habits.  This issue, actually, should probably be the first on the list, but I go back and forth on that every day.  I will tell you, though, that where I live, in Houston, Texas, we have had more rain this year than we have had in many years.  Our rain totals are at record highs and we have had severe flooding all over our state.  Here it is, late July, and the temperatures have been very mild compared to what our average is for this time of year.  It’s been hot, but we have not had a really HOT day yet this year.

Impeachment.  Cheney first, then Bush.  Let’s put back into place our Constitutional rights that they have illegally taken away.  Get these criminals out of office before they destroy what is left of this country.  And while we’re at it, get rid of all the other dead weights that are in office who refuse to do the jobs they were elected to do and who refuse to live up to the oath of office they each took to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.

Universal Healthcare – Minus the insurance companies, of course!  It’s a real shame that in our country people cannot get the healthcare they need because they don’t have the money.  I have been through times when I could not afford health insurance and needed healthcare desperately.  I lived with severe pain and the fear that there was something drastically wrong with me, but I could not get the care I needed because I did not have insurance.  This is stressful and leads to even more health problems.  I’m lucky.   There was nothing seriously wrong with my health.  Millions of others have not been so lucky.

Education.  I think this speaks for itself.  I will say that our education system has gone downhill drastically over the decades of my life.  As a country we used to be able to brag about our educational system.  We no longer can.  I’m not even talking about higher education like college and trade schools.  Most people cannot afford that luxury anymore.

The list could go on and on.  I think the top four are interchangeable and I have a difficult time deciding which is more important.  All are a reflection of our society and our leaders who are more interested in money than they are the interests of the citizens of our country.
