Second Thought

Second thought is a way to affirm or disarm first thought. Second Thought
by Paul Newell

With second thought I can analyze first thought. Second thought is a product of first thought. But where, oh where does first thought come from?

Second thought is a way to affirm or disarm first thought. However, second thought in some cases is not afforded. And these two definitions need to be distinctively separated. So how does this stand?

Well now we're talking about third thought which is where do I draw the line as to whether or not first thought needs the help of second thought. Wow, that sounds messed up! But it’s something that each one of us has to deal with on some level each day.

Have you ever noticed that one thought can consume so much time in years in some cases yet others are hyper-jetted out? That’s called instinctive abilities. Instinct is what builds knowledge hence, intelligent decisions.

Yet, intelligence falters. So-called 'intelligent decisions' can also go wrong…

Let's go back now to instinct. Knowledge is just knowledge. You can’t really use it unless you're right there. So it’s instinct that is our number one tool of survival. Intuition if you will. This is the one that needs to be understood better and utilized without limits.

I’m pretty sure that we all realize the credibility of product of environment studies. The environment is what will limit your instinct value. The instinct value being how much can you trust on your instincts.

Environment being any incumbent. In media or telecommunications, the term incumbent is used to describe existing companies often first established as regulated monopolies. These include television or radio stations who have benefited from government granted broadcast licenses and telecommunications companies who first existed at regulated utilities with exclusive rights to serve an area. Incumbents in this context typically have extensive market power.

Instincts are being eroded every day by automation. Automation leads the path of least resistance.

Believe that instinct is what makes a Soldier become a Soldier they instinctively know that they must stand on guard. They somewhat enjoy the hell treatment and nagging endurance of basic (bootcamp) proving to themselves that their instincts are guiding them correctly. And when they're trained and ready to put those basic instincts to the ultimate test they can't afford second thoughts.

No second thought hooked to the static line, no second thought buggin from the humvee under fire. No second thought when buddy’s leg is half missing.

So here comes the separation, protected by the instincts that are standing on guard we the protected are afforded all the second thought that could possibly be needed to make the right decisions.

Why indeed could it be that as well as affirming or disarming first thought, second thought also opens the door to the vast fader of scenario and endless calculations.

As a mathematical equation can go on finite, so can thought. So we have to deal in now time not finite time.

So the decision-makers need to better understand that time is of the utmost when second thoughts are going to be engaged and they need to work harder to have all the very best information needed to make those decisions.

You know, we already have a ton of information. What is it that we don’t get about “the past repeating itself?”

Now is the time to stand up for the dedicated Troops who don’t get a chance at a second thought. And now is the time to lean, and I mean lean, on those who are hindering the process due to their frivolous second thoughts.
