When U.S. Leaders Lie there is No Justice and No Peace

"No Justice, No Peace" That phrase keeps ringing through my heart and my mind this morning.  No justice.  No peace.

The Senate report came out yesterday that tells us that we were lied to.  The President of our country, his Vice President, and many others lied to the citizens of this country repeatedly to wage war in the name of America.  They used, quite effectively, the fears of the American people after 9/11.  They used our fear to manipulate and control us.

The Committee Chairman, Jay Rockefeller, said this about further action:

“Rockefeller said Democrats would not formally prosecute the point against the administration because doing so would automatically shut down relations between the legislative and executive branches.

“It would mean nothing else, whether it’s clean air or FISA, would get done,” he said. “It’s like pressing for impeachment. It’s a grand act with only five or six months to go. It’s a futile act and it’s a wrong act, because we do have business to do. Should it be done in the wide sweep of history? Yes. Should it be done by us, now? No.”

And what does the White House have to say about it?  That it’s old news.

Americans far and wide should be angry about this latest turn of events.  We should be demanding justice for the lawlessness, the treason and the high crimes and misdemeanors committed by those who led this country into unprovoked war against another country with lies, manipulation and deceit.

Alas, it seems, this will not come to pass.

I believe this sets a very bad precedent for future leaders of this country.  It sends the message to them that no matter what they do, no matter how lawless their actions, they will not be held accountable for them.

In the meantime, we have over 4100 war dead.  America’s sons and daughters, those who survive, are returning home wounded and broken from scars both seen and unseen.  Thousands upon thousands have taken their own lives.

Families are left devastated and in ruin financially, spiritually and emotionally.  The soldiers we send to “protect” us, to “fight them over there so we don’t have to fight them here” are not being taken care of.  They are being used then thrown away like unwanted trash.

Where is justice for our country?  Where is peace for our country?

Where is justice for the families whose loved ones gave their all to their country?   How can we ever reconcile in our hearts and minds the evil that has been thrust upon us?  How can we ever have peace, knowing we kissed and hugged our sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, husbands and wives goodbye knowing we might not ever see them again?

Where is the justice for those returning warriors who have given all they have, sacrificed much only to return again and again to a country we have decimated?  Where is the justice when they cannot even get the care that is afforded to them for putting their lives and the lives of their families on hold time after time?

Justice is turning a blind eye, has turned its back on us, the ultimate betrayal of those who fought and died, of their families, of those who return home wounded and broken.

Senator Rockefeller and the rest of you, I tell you, it is your solemn and sacred responsibility to your country, to the sons and daughters of this country who give all they have, and to their families, to bring justice.  If nothing else gets done, give us justice!

GIVE US JUSTICE.  NO JUSTICE!  NO PEACE!
