Being President Means Never Having to Say ‘I’m Sorry I Wasn’t Prepared.’

By Robert Rosebrock

If you think this election is about the economy, then you’d better think again.  Let there be no misunderstanding, with less than a week left before electing our 44th President of the United States, this election has now come down to one thing: The Test.

Yes, it’s the test that Democratic vice-presidential candidate Joe Biden prophesied will take place during the first six months of a Barack Obama Presidency when he brazenly declared that America’s enemies will test whether he is prepared to lead the Free World.

“Joe the Prophet”
Senator Biden didn’t just prophesy; he actually promised: “Mark my words. It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don’t remember anything else I said. Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy. And he’s going to need help . . . to stand with him. Because it’s not going to be apparent initially; it’s not going to be apparent that we’re right.”

If that doesn’t make every American think seriously about what’s at stake with this election, then remember what Joe Biden said in Seattle when he forewarned the world: “Remember I said it standing here if you don’t remember anything else I said.”

While many Americans would like to forget a lot of what old blowhard Joe has said over the past four decades, this must be taken very seriously.

In fact, it’s either the final test of this Presidential race or the first test of an Obama Presidency.

Twenty-three Percent on His First Test
Contrary to “Joe the Prophet’s” forewarning, the world does not need to wait until the first six months of an Obama Presidency to test his leadership skills.

Actually, this “brilliant 47 year old Senator” has already failed the most important test before even being elected. It’s the test about those people “he’s going to need help … to stand with him.” It’s about the very men and women who will confront this international crisis on Sen. Obama’s behalf, and they’ve already given him a very serious no-confidence vote.

According to the Army Times Poll, America’s military troops, support Sen. John McCain as their Commander-in-Chief over Sen. Obama by an overwhelming margin of 68 percent to a dismal 23 percent. The poll shows that enlisted troops prefer McCain 67 percent to 24 percent over Obama. Officers prefer McCain 70 percent to 22 percent.

With a confidence base of less than 24 percent of the men and women of America’s armed forces “to stand with him,” what dictator wouldn’t brashly and boldly “test” the freshman Senator from Illinois?

Now if you really think the economy is bad today, just wait until an international crisis hits us within the first six months of ‘09. The one way our enemy knows how to weaken America greatly is to greatly weaken America’s economy.

He’s No John Kennedy
For some unknown reason, Sen. Obama has been curiously compared with John F. Kennedy. Aside from the mutual admiration of perhaps Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, there’s little these two men have in common. First, JFK was a World War II hero, and he was seriously tested by the enemy before becoming President. On the other hand, the closest BHO ever got to the enemy was via a safe and scripted tour within the Green Zone in Iraq with our troops during mess hall chats and a basketball shoot-around, all under heavy protection and surveillance.

For Biden to even try and compare the paper tiger Obama, a white-flag waving retreater, with John Kennedy’s “Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty,” is grossly insulting.

Obama Has Failed Test After Test
Clearly, Sen. Obama’s limited success has been that he is “brilliant” when reading the teleprompter, but a complete failure when he’s on his own to speak with “no preconditions.”

From the “57 states” in America that he claimed to have campaigned in, “not counting Alaska and Hawaii,” to the “bomb that was dropped on Pearl Harbor,” to countless other gaffes, this neophyte is simply not ready to play in the big leagues as his own man.

Obama’s refusal to debate McCain in several Town Hall meetings proved that he was unwilling to be “tested” by even a fellow American who simply shared a difference of opinion regarding how to lead our nation into the future. Yet, the inexperienced Obama is willing to meet with experienced foreign dictators who openly declare that they want to destroy America. And he is willing to do it with “no preconditions.”

Obama failed another basic test of judgment when he sat in the Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s church for 20 years with no preconditions and allowed this bigoted, anti-American charlatan to spew venom that turns the stomach of even the most hard-cored.

Nonetheless, Barack was hoodwinked by this racist hate-monger to be his “spiritual advisor.” He even allowed the pastor to perform his marriage to Michelle, and later to baptize their two daughters. If Obama didn’t get Rev. Wright’s message after 20 years, how can he possibly be trusted to get the message of ruthless tyrants over a simple meeting with no preconditions?

Its the “Test,” Stupid
Obama has been tested and failed in every measure of leadership and judgment, except on how to read a teleprompter. The Presidency of the United States is not a dress rehearsal. This enormous job is far, far “above his pay grade.” Consequently, if a Presidential candidate can only muster the support of less than 24 percent of America’s military men and women “to stand with him” in time of international crisis, then it’s time for him to return to the Senate, where he can safely vote “present.”

Do You Really Support Our Troops?
We keep hearing people say they “Support Our Troops” but don’t necessarily support war. War is inevitable, as Plato so rightly declared: “Only the dead have seen the end of war.” Nobody has been able to refute this claim for 2500 years, including “Joe the Prophet.”

Consequently, those we trust to protect our safety in a time of war are trusting John McCain with their own safety by an overwhelming majority of 3 to 1 as their Commander-in-Chief.

As a responsible citizenry, it’s our duty to protect the safety and well-being of our men and women in uniform by voting for the elected public servants who will best provide them with the leadership, trust, and equipment they need to defend our nation in a time of international crisis. So, if you really support America’s military troops, shouldn’t you support their choice as to who they want to lead us in a war if we are going to be challenged within the first six months of ‘09?

McCain Passed His Test 40 Years Ago
Great Presidents are tested before undertaking the most responsible job in the world. John McCain passed his test 40 years ago after his fighter plane was shot down and he was held as a Prisoner of War for 5 1/2 years. McCain’s years of the brutal beatings at the Hanoi Hilton while being interrogated, hours-upon-hours, are known to all.

To elaborate without even remotely being able to grasp the magnitude of such horrible conditions would be unfair, other than to say he met the enemy with no preconditions. It’s not a good idea, as his crippled body is testament. The better idea is to be in control at the outset, otherwise you will more than likely be under someone else’s control afterward.

Student or Teacher?
Being leader of the Free World is not a test where brutal dictators teach a student President about the harsh lessons of not being prepared for war. To the contrary, being President requires an old master to teach the rogue dictators a lesson or two about “peace through strength” and the benefits of living in a democracy. Do Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev ring a liberty bell?

Being President of the United States means never having to say “I’m sorry, I wasn’t prepared.”

America’s first Commander-in-Chief, George Washington, left this profound message to all who would follow him: “To be prepared for war is one of the most effectual means of preserving peace.”

Will You Pass the Test?
Here’s the test for America on Nov 4: Should the safety of our nation’s 300 million citizens be “tested” because of the inexperience and unpreparedness of the freshman senator?

Think before you vote. This election is not about protecting your family’s 401(k). It’s about protecting the lives of your family.
