8 long, so very long years ago I began with my conspiratorial warnings. I warned of a “fund raiser” attack on the US that would justify an oil war in Iraq or Iran and a heroin/opium war in Afghanistan. People laughed.
I warned that a repeat of the Reagan ‘savings and loan” robbery and bailout that cost America $1.6 trillion back in the 80’s, taken from our government and put in the hands of GOP politicians and their supporters. We got a $2 trillion dollar bank robbery, destroying the retirement of 85% of Americans and borrowed $700 billion to add on top of it.
I warned that Bush would cut taxes on his friends, grow a massive government bureaucracy and run us into debt until world markets collapsed. We have $5 trillion in new debt, a government 300% of Clinton levels and endless new laws.
We got an end to habeas corpus, the foundation of our constitution and faced having to fight our own troops at the polls yesterday had this been a closer election. Bush brought home riot trained troops to seize voting machines and ballot boxes. Even here in town, police were issued riot gear in advance of election day. We were close to Martial Law yesterday, don’t fool yourself about that.
Democrats are no “free lunch” for anyone but themselves. They are politicians too. After 8 years of turning a blind eye to right and wrong, corruption and destruction of our civil liberties, perhaps we could take a renewed interest in governing America, keeping an eye on the thieves in Washington DC and ending our love affair with phony patriotism, the thin veil the Fascists love so very much.
Watching McCain’s quite wonderful concession speech last night to an audience of idiots and fools was an embarrassment. Flawed though McCain is, he is of so much better metal than those who he had to cater to, down to, more appropriately. He sunk himself with an overdressed pig as a running mate and a message of lowbrow finger pointing and “Faux News” petty lies, the same tactics used to destroy him years earlier. A revolting campaign suffered from the revolt only it could have begun.
What we need is an accounting for every cent stolen, every life wasted, every lie told for 8 years. We need trials and jail time for thousands who put themselves before country, before honor and before decency. We will lose many from both parties and gut every company in the drug, insurance, defense, oil and financial sectors.
They dreamed they were the Masters of the Universe.
Cheney, Rove, Delay, Lott, Rumsfeld, Gonzales and thousands of underlings from every department, the Pentagon, Justice, the VA, the CIA and Homeland Security need to face justice. Every fraudulent contract with our government, every looted pension fund, every fixed price, every poisoned drug, all of it has to be paid for.
Be certain that the thieves that bought the Republicans years ago are crossing the aisle with their free vacations and boxes of cash shopping Democrats today. Time to close the door on the game, punish the guilty and put a stop to it. Did we elect a new government or did we give a new group of thieves a chance to make up for lost time?
