MEMORIAL FUND ADDS ODELL SIMMS TO THE FUNDRAISING TEAM
FOR THE VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL CENTER

Washington, D.C. — The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund has hired the fundraising firm of Odell, Simms & Associates, Inc. to assist in the capital campaign for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Center, announced Memorial Fund Founder and President Jan C. Scruggs.

“We are pleased Odell Simms has joined our cause,” Scruggs said. “The company’s recent fundraising activities for the Gettysburg Foundation and the Pentagon Memorial Fund give it the knowledge and experience that will be valuable as we work to build the Memorial Center on the National Mall.”

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Center is a project developed by the Memorial Fund to help The Wall’s millions of annual visitors learn about the Memorial, as well as the Vietnam War.  The Memorial Fund estimates it will cost $75 million to $100 million to build.

Nearly $18 million has been raised so far, including the $10 million lead gift from Time Warner.  Odell Simms will be working with the Memorial Fund’s new Vice President of Development Dan Reese, who joined the staff in July. Reese has many years of experience in fundraising, most recently with the National Council for Adoption.

“We are excited to partner with the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund to establish this Center that will fully complement the educational aspects of The Wall,” said John Simms, president and CEO, Odell, Simms & Associates, Inc. “The Center will also complement the Memorial Fund’s wide array of programs and activities, including the Echoes from The Wall curriculum guide, the Teach Vietnam Teachers Network and The Wall That Heals traveling replica.”

Odell, Simms and Associates most recently assisted the Gettysburg Foundation in completing its $125 million capital campaign to build a new museum, visitor’s center and education complex, and helped complete the fundraising to build the Pentagon Memorial. Both projects were dedicated in September.
