Urgent Support Needed For U.S. War Resisters Facing Deportation from Canada

from Kelly Dougherty, Executive Director Iraq Veterans Against the War   The War Resisters Support Campaign needs your help to stop the imminent deportation of five U.S. war resisters and their families living in Canada; Cliff Cornell, Chris Teske, Dean Walcott, Kimberly Rivera, and Patrick Hart.

The War Resister Support Campaign has organized an emergency week of action (see www.resisters.ca).

Thursday, Jan. 22 is National Phone-In Day, and supporters in the U.S. are invited to join in.  The idea is to keep those phones ringing all day long!   Contact Immigration Minister Jason Kenney and Prime Minister Stephen Harper to tell them you support war resisters. Urge them to:

  • stop the deportation proceedings against all U.S. Iraq War Resisters; and
  • implement the Parliamentary motion from June 2008 to allow war resisters to apply for Permanent Resident status in Canada.
