Training on the Federal Grant Process

The National Coalition for Homeless Veterans will be offering a free training session for organizations currently serving or looking to serve veterans. The training will go over the basics of federal grant applications with particular attention paid to the Grant and Per Diem funding offered from the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program funds given by the Department of Labor. Participants will also learn about the necessary OMB regulatory circulars and how to make sure that they maintain compliance with their funders. Information will also be given on creating and meeting measurable objectives when writing a project plan and how to assist veterans in accessing employment programs in their area.

This training session is an aimed at those groups who are just starting out or looking to expand their work with veterans.      Scheduled trainings:

  • Chicago, IL (Mercy Housing Lakefront, South Loop Apartments, 1521 S. Wabash Ave.) – March 12, 2009, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

During this teleconference series, Melanie Lilliston, NCHV Director of Technical Assistance and Finance, will discuss funding priorities and the rules and regulations of the 2009 Capital Grant. The Notice of Fund Availability (NOFA) was announced on January 23, 2009. Lilliston will provide an overview of the Capital Grant application process and specifics of the current NOFA. Note: The same material will be covered during both calls. 

A question and answer session will follow the presentation. We encourage callers to submit questions before the day of the conference call.
