IF YOU THOUGHT THEY WERE ALL CRAZY, YOU WERE PROBABLY RIGHT

By Gordon Duff STAFF WRITER

During the last week, political rhetoric about giving money to ordinary people has now become fascism, socialism or a secret attempt to steal the guns we all have hiding under our beds or the marijuana millions have in their dresser drawers (or freezers, for our “scientific” bunch).

Nationally, Obama is taking the “high road” by knowing not to be part of it, hoping the GOP burns themselves out.  He is probably wrong.  We seem to have an inherent need to get “buzzed up” or simply “buzzed” like Limbaugh on Oxy, in order to deal with real stresses or the lack of anything meaningful to do in life.

The vast majority of Americans who were incensed about 9/11 were either blaming Bush an hour later or saying the World Trade Center needed to go anyway because it was “filled with Jews and bankers.”  I have nightmares about kids dying in the planes but I am a sensitive type, I used to kill people with a shovel for a living.

It seems prettymuch everyone has something inane to keep themselves interested, though their real lives are in front of a TV set, or if you look around you, a refrigerator.  Doctors are in a panic because they are now being told they will have to start learning computers their kids were playing with at 5 or 6.  With real computer records, overbilling Medicare is going to be much harder.  People will start finding out how little real work many people actually do.

WHERE DO WE SEND THE ‘MEN IN WHITE COATS’ FIRST?

Politicians are our craziest group.  They pretend they care about people and want to make our lives better.  They have one interest group they but ahead of all others, themselves.  They make sure their health insurance and retirement is best on the planet, vested in “15 minutes” and the moment they leave office, they payoffs can roll in.  For every honest politician there are 4 crooks.

Lawyers are an odd lot.  Most of my friends are lawyers, some are the biggest suckers in the world, and put themselves on the line, even for poor clients, more than any know.  However none of us need to be told about lawyers.  There are “lawyer jokes” for a reason.  TV beats this subject to death.  Who, other than a lawyer, could bill $500 an hour while sitting on the crapper?

Look at the ACLU.  Without them our constitution would be dead.  However, they hate guns and take some sides I find both bizarre and disturbing and I am a member.  Like any organization, whatever they claim to believe, one or two people make the decisions, and if they are like most Americans, they are crazy.  Someone please tell the ACLU they need a reality check.

My pet crazy group is the military.  I am a “them” also. (retired)  They least democratic group, the group that believes the least in our form of government, the group with the most corrupt members but is also the group we entrust with our lives and freedoms.  Give us the reality check on this one.

With a few notable exceptions, our military is led by people who are educated in “service academies” to look on “the people” as the enemy, civilians, lesser people, people who should have no rights and no say-so.  Sworn to protect and defend the constitution, the leaders of our military would toss it on the fire in a minute and form a “junta” passing laws seizing guns and opening concentration camps.

You will never find our military leaders so happy as when they are among their counterparts from the corrupt military dictatorships we are supposed to bring democracy to.

THE “NATIONAL GUARD” IS NOT THE “ARMY”

The reason we have a 2nd amendment which allows citizens to have guns is to protect ourselves from our military and police, not “criminals” or dangerous “tree huggers.”

There is mention of a “well regulated militia” also.  However, that militia, the National Guard, was federalized long ago and has been under the total control of the central government for years.  We managed to keep hundreds of thousands of troops in Europe and over 500,000 in Vietnam without using one person from the National Guard.

Now they are “nationalized.”  Is this a threat to our freedom?  It could be.  It is certainly not what was intended and clearly takes rights from the states that the constitution was designed to protect.  If we are spending a trillion dollars a year on defense and have to drag people out of their homes to fight a few hundred tribesmen in Afghanistan, could we, just perhaps, have our priorities a bit off center?

BEING A “FREE AMERICAN” CAN BE FUN, TRY IT

Do I have a suggestion for any of this?  Yes, of course I do.

1.  Stop being part of the problem.  If what you are listening to makes you feel better while everything around you is collapsing, chances are you are listening to a crazy person.  Turn it off, put the book down and go back to watching soap operas.  There is beer in the fridge.  Get one.

2.  Learn.  Learning will tell you that “socialized medicine” will put an end to our insane medical system where insurance companies tell doctors how to treat patients.  Doctors who help the most people make the least money and those who often do nothing, sometimes with dangerous incompetence, own the world.  All the while, nurses do 90% of the work and get an almost identical education but make 20% of the money.  Everything has changed.  Learn what is going on.  If you hate unions, the “doctors union” is the worst by far.

3.  End our criminal justice system.  We can’t lock up drug addicts and small dealers, sometimes for decades or put people away for year after year because politicians and newspapers like the sound of “law and order.”  We have too many people in prison for too long and too many of the wrong people locked up.  We all know that if anyone in congress is not in jail, nobody should be in jail.

4.  We have created a nightmare with a vast federal government, hundreds of thousands of laws nobody understands but have done little to help ourselves in the process.  The bigger government is, the more money it takes to bribe them.  For us “little guys” who have to finance the bribes at the gas pump and supermarket, it is getting out of hand.  We need to shut the whole process down.  These professional leaches can’t be afforded anymore.  Make them get honest jobs.

5.  Put an end to the “brown-nosing” system in the military.  Our “professional military” has turned into a pack of self serving useless phonies taking the credit for sacrifices that poor kids make.  There are talented military leaders out there.  Trouble is, the military got rid of them years ago.

6.  Make “business” understandable.  If you don’t make something, fix something or sell something somoene made, chances are the only business you are involved in is “monkey business.”

THE “REAL WORLD” THE MEDIA AND POLITICIANS TALK ABOUT EXISTS ONLY IN A SMALL DARK PART OF THEIR BRAINS

The world is a funny place and alot different than most Americans think it is.  Everyone wants to be an American, some not entirely but all admire us in ways few Americans understand.  Much more of the world is more like us that we will ever guess.  You can travel all over the world and find people who could be your neighbor.  Feel good about that.  That is “real.”

Things get mixed up.  Iranians living in Iran are much more American than Iranians living in London.  Iranians don’t want to “talk to us,” they want to be us.  People want you afraid so they can pick your pocket.

However, many of us stopped being Americans years ago and became liberals or conservatives, socialists or fascists or simply lost our way.

Until we can destroy the crooked party system that has disemboweled our system of freedoms and crush the pack of crooks who have created a financial system designed to steal the change out of your pocket, we will be victims.

Everyone who tells you to “believe” is a liar.  Everyone with a smile is probably only waiting for you to turn your back.  With decades of little but news of crooked politicians, corrupt judges, religious leaders involved in every imagable perversion and business leaders who couldn’t hold a job herding goats, looking to others is less than a good idea.

Look to yourself.  If you are crazy, stop.  This has been going on too long.
