Too much money spent on Defense means too little spent on infrastructure

Why are we spending close to 3% of our GDP on National Defense when our allies are not spending anywhere near that much?  And Gates just asked Obama for us to spend 4% !  No way.

We need bridges to be rebuilt in this country.  We need universal college educations or trade school educations for every kid in the country paid for by the government.  We need the 47 million Americans without health care to have it provided.

In other words, we need to be a national community, not a bunch of working poor people enslaved to the elites.  The elites will always do well, after all, they are the elites.  Why is our tax money being siphoned off to them in the guise of "national defense spending" ?

No, this kind of outlay for national defense is ridiculous.  What we need is to have our money actually serve the greater good of the people, not of the elites.  "National defense spending" is simply coded language for taking care of the elites and making sure that they stay the elites.

This must end now.  Obama is right.  We have our priorities all screwed up.

American money needs to go to the American people who raised it, the taxpayers.  Anything else is robbery.  And essentially that is what President Eisenhower told us in 1961.  Are we ready to listen now?
