The Department of Defense has announced its recruiting statistics by the active and reserve components for October 2007 (the first month of the new FY 2008 Fiscal Year). A "Fiscal Year" runs from October through September.
All of the active duty branchesbranches met or exceeded their recruiting goals for the month.

Active Duty Recruiting Statistics for October 2007:
- Army: Recruited 4,564 out of a goal of 4,500 (101 percent)
- Navy: Recruited 2,388, out of a goal of 2,388 (100 percent)
- Marine Corps: Recruited 2,788, out of a goal of 2,720 (102 percent)
- Air Force: Recruited 2,656, out of a goal of 2,656 (100 percent)
On the Reserve side, all six of the reserve componants met or exceeded their recruiting goals.
Reserve Recruiting Statistics for October 2007:
- Army National Guard: Recruited 5,305 out of a goal of 4,311 (123 percent)
- Army Reserve: Recruited 3,297 out of a goal of 3,169 (104 percent)
- Navy Reserve: Recruited 918 out of a goal of 818 (112 percent)
- Marine Corps Reserve: Recruited 890 out of a goal of 890 (100 percent)
- Air National Guard: Recruited 818 out of a goal of 609 (134 percent)
- Air Force Reserve: Recruited 681 out of a goal of 679 (100 percent)
