New Cab and Retooled Trailer Will be Showcased at March 26 Event

Washington, D.C. – New Century Transportation, based in Westhampton, N.J., has donated the use of a high-end semi cab to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund to transport the traveling Wall replica, The Wall That Heals, around the country, announced Jan C. Scruggs, Memorial Fund founder and president.

The Wall That Heals is a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial that tours in the spring, summer and fall. It has visited more than 300 communities in the United States since its creation in 1996, and it has also made stops in Canada and Ireland.

“The Wall That Heals gives people who can’t visit Washington, D.C., the opportunity to visit The Wall and pay tribute to loved ones named there,” said Scruggs. “New Century’s donation of a semi cab allows us to continue the important work of healing and remembrance that is the core of the Memorial Fund’s mission.”

The Wall That Heals also includes a traveling museum that is contained in the trailer that houses the replica. This year, that trailer has been renovated by Featherlite Trailers in Cresco, Iowa, and new exhibits were created by Ralph Appelbaum Associates of New York. The new semi cab and museum trailer will be unveiled at a ceremony on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. on March 26.

“We are pleased to partner with the Memorial Fund to bring such a stirring tribute to as many Americans as possible,” said New Century Chairman and CEO Harry Muhlschlegel. “New Century employs many American patriots who served our country valiantly in its armed forces, and we have a culture of respect for those ideals. It is important that we never forget the sacrifices made by so many in the service of our country.”

With its generous donation, New Century joins six other national sponsors for The Wall That Heals: Disabled American Veterans Charitable Trust, Harley-Davidson Foundation, Federal Express, GEICO and Target Corporation.
