Washington DC—Congressman Jeff Miller (R-FL-01) denounced a plan by the Obama Administration to bill veterans’ private insurance for care related to service connected injuries.

“It’s reprehensible to try and save a few bucks at the expense of our veterans with service-connected injuries,” Miller stated.  “In these troubled economic times, we need to look for opportunities to save taxpayer dollars, but this proposal is a slap in the face to our wounded warriors.”

The Obama Administration has revealed a plan to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries.

Currently, veterans only pay for treatment of injuries and ailments not a result of their military service.  The plan would save an estimated$540 Million.

“I’m going to do all I can as a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee to make sure this proposal never sees the light of day,” said Miller.  “I look forward to working with the veterans’ service organizations and my Republican and Democratic colleagues to defeat this appalling plan.
