Why are Western Governments Lying to their Citizens?

It is clear by now, judging from all of the recent articles posted on the VT website that highly placed insiders in Western governments both here and abroad have had to deal with obstructionists in their governments.

This means parliaments, congresses, knessets and even regional legislatures around the world are now shown to have been clearly trying to hide pertinent facts relative to the Iraq war, the recent fighting in Gaza, the popular uprising in Pakistan this week, the crumbling of the Western puppet government in Kabul, Afghanistan and dozens of other related "democratic government" failures of the last few years. There seems to be a pattern here.

I am not smart enough or connected enough to really know what is going on but one thing is obvious, Western style governments all around the world are not leveling with their people on these issues. Western heads of state are routinely lying.  

This does not even touch on the deliberate hiding of crucial facts concerning what various legislators and their staffs throughout the West and even in Asia knew prior to the economic collapse of the worldwide credit based economy last Fall. 95 monks in Tibet were arrested yesterday for attacking Chinese soldiers and police who had unduly exercised arresting authority on peaceful Tibetan monks.

If this had happened in 1960 the American Press would be outraged and it would be front page news. But it happend in 2009 and China directly owns about 30% of American assets. They hold more treasury notes than any other foreign government.

They have us by the gronyas ladies and gentlemen. And they know it. And so do we. So it sat on a deep inside page of the Washington Post and the New York Times. Can you imagine the story that would have appeared on the front page of those papers if 95 Roman Catholic monks were arrested by the Italian government within the confines of the Vatican City because they were protesting the illegal arrest of another monk? It would have been on the news all day.

I guess Tibetan Buddhist monks just don’t rate that kind of juice, especially when the government of the arresting officers fairly much owns our debt. God help us if they call in their chips.

This goes far beyond the goofy games that the Bush/Cheney team played with Americans expecting to be treated as informed participants in a democratic republic but rather were fed PR manure and spin like mushrooms living in the dark. This is downright sociopathic and speaks to a inbred distrust in the wisdom of the very people who placed these people in office.

It cuts across all political parties in all countries. It is not a Republican thing or a Democratic thing or a Tory thing or a Labor thing or anything other than a "Western" thing. As of this point in time, Western style governments are routinely lying to their people across an entire universe of subjects. Now veterans who have been wounded and injured and disabled to prop up the premier Western government on the globe have a right to ask, what is going on?

Why are we being routinely lied to by the elites of the West who are running our governments? Why is it necessary to lie to us?

Why?
