How Incompetent is the VA?

Last November, my brother in law went into the VA Medical Center in West Roxbury, Massachusetts for a Cardiac Catherization.  My sister dropped him off and picked him up laterthat day. When she picked him up, she asked the VA doctor how everything went and he said fine.

As it turned out everything wasn’t fine. They severed the artery and said nothing and did nothing to prevent infection.

A few days later, the patient got sick and my sister brought him back through the ER facility at the same hospital. The patient was vomitting, seizures, temperature, chills, etc.

They shrugged it off and said he had flu symthoms and sent him home. A few days later he was sent back via a 911 call. They again sent the patient home reiterating he had the flu.

Now 10 days had gone by and only by accident, he happened to be at the VA for a scheduled eye exam, and the eye doctor noticed blood on the front of his pantsand asked what that was about and instructed my sister to take him to the ER.

This time my sister demanded they take a blood cultureto check for infection.

Well, he had a massive staph infection taht they ignored for 10 days saying he had the flu.

The poor man spent the next 2 months in surgical intensive care and almost died and had a hole where they made the incesion that became huge due to bacteria eating the flesh away.

He then spent several weeks at Rehab at the VA where they also managed to loose his false teeth.

He went home after 3 months sick, unable to walk, bed ridden and lost about 30 lbs.

The man almost a year and a half later is still not right. When he walks its with the help of a walker. He was an active man who drove once a week to Conn, over 100 miles away , went dancing and was an active partner to my sister. Now he’s a bedridden man who sleeps half the time.

The VA has ruined two people’s lives and has refused to admit the blame.

How incompetent the VA is!
