Village of Manlius-Cold War Veterans Exemption Local Law 3 was adopted at Tuesday night’s Village of Manlius board meeting, by a vote of 6-1. The law, which allows a ten-year tax exemption of house assessments up to $12,000, is for veterans who served from the end of World War II until the beginning of the Gulf War during non-conflict times. Village resident, and vice president of operations at the Oncenter, Eric Schuster said he served in the military from 1981-1989, and is proud of the village for supporting this law and thinks it is a great idea. Trustee Natalie Minor voted against the law, stating fiscal concerns about the impact the tax break would have on assessments in the village.
