GRAND JUNCTION (KJCT)- Local World War II veterans were honored Saturday at Grand Villa retirement home in Grand Junction.Six World War II veterans call Grand Villa home, and were honored for Armed Forces Day. Bill Roasberry was in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  He was in the battle of Iwo Jima– and is proud to have known the two men from his ship who raised the flag from atop Mount Suribachi– a famous photograph from the war.He says he and the other veterans really appreciated the special ceremony held in their honor."It’s the most important thing for the population to remember armed forces, past, present and future. To always keep them in mind because they are serving the country and they need our support and prayers," Roasberry said.

The World War II veterans are proud people still care enough to honor and remember what they did for our country.
