belleau_shadows_400_01EUROPE IN DENIAL ABOUT AMERICA’S ROLE IN THE WAR

AMERICAN CEMETERIES AND MONUMENTS LEFT OUT OF TOURS, OFTEN HIDDEN FROM THE PUBLIC

I have toured most of the battlefield sites of World War 2, the ETO at least.  Europe has been having wars for thousands of years, and though there is little left at most sites, I have visited what remains, from the Roman wars onward.

Few of the tour groups from Britain on cheap bus vacations do more than see the “cookie cutter” sites near the D Day landings of the British only or the nearby, few and sad, World War I sites.

marine_entrance_to_belleau_400America has a wonderful cemetery at Omaha Beach, never seen, never featured and a large number of Battlefield Monuments which are actually hidden from the public.

Yes, it is actually done, road signs removed, or signs pointing the wrong way.  Resentment against America is expressed this way, dishonoring our dead thru trickery and ignorance.

I don’t want to go into the two world wars at length.  Germans claim World War I was their righteous war.  Few know the truth about how British ignorance is negotiating with Russia and Germany brought on World War 2 or the real role the French played.  I have read the documents themselves.

They make the history we teach utterly false.

We live with our lies.  We cater to those who disrespect our dead.

(Bastogne, Belgium monument built by people there to honor Americans who fought there, unknown and forgotten.)

Most of this is in France, where a generation has grown up being taught that America is an enemy and did nothing to save France, repeatedly, during the last century.  Today’s politics has nothing to do with two hundred years of friendship and sacrifice.

This is unacceptable.

Nowhere on Earth are the honored dead less honored and more forgotten than in Europe.
