Ticketholders invited to observe drawing in South Florida law office
(MIAMI, FL) The founders of Veterans Retreat, Inc., a Miami-based charity benefiting America’s wounded veterans, announced today that the winner of the group’s Miami Beach Condo Raffle will be selected on Monday, June 15th.
We sold less than the required amount of tickets to raffle the condo, so according to contest rules, a cash prize will be awarded instead. Veterans Retreat co-founder Tim Suereth said "Still, the cash prize will be substantial – 50 percent will go to the winner and 50 percent will benefit our wounded veterans."
As of Friday, June 12th, Veterans Retreat had sold 766 raffle tickets for $100 each – $76,000 in gross ticket sales. According to contest rules, the winner will take home half the final sales less associated administrative costs (ex: Paypal takes around 3.5 percent for transaction fees, etc.).
The drawing is open to the public and will be held at 11:00am EST at the law offices of Feldman and van der Vlugt, 1111 Kane Concourse, Bay Harbor Islands, Florida, 33154. The process will also be videotaped and replayed on the Web at www.VeteransRetreat.com.
"This was our first real estate raffle and our organization learned a great deal from the experience," Suereth said. "Sure, we are a bit disappointed that the condo won’t be awarded, but we’ve raised a lot of money for our veterans programs and some lucky person will be more than $30,000 richer on Monday afternoon."
"Ticketholders have about one in 766 chances to win all that cash – a far better shot at success than your typical lottery," Suereth said. "The odds are so much better, we hope to see a spike in ticket sales over the weekend. This would be a real boost for our wounded veterans."
