WHY IS DEMOCRATIC SPIRIT FLORISHING IN IRAN AND DYING AT HOME?

FIVE MILES OF DEMONSTRATORS FLOOD TEHRAN PROTESTING ELECTION FRAUD

HERE AT HOME, 2 STOLEN ELECTIONS AND BARELY A WHIMPER

By Gordon Duff STAFF WRITER

Ohio 2004:  Rigged voting machines, a governor convicted, party heads rob the state of millions to finance election fraud, voting machine rigging expert threatened by Karl Rove dies in mysterious plane crash, all to get us into the worst national disaster in 100 years.

Corruption flooded across America from the conviction of Governor Siegleman in Alabama, under Rove/Cheney directions to the arrest and silencing of Congressman/Ambassador Mark Siljander, for his opposition to the invasion of Iraq.

Troop suicides, deployment of the sick and wounded while fat cat contractors get huge bonuses for defective and non-existent work.  Steal an election and systematically work to destroy America and the people will watch the entire thing on TV.

Try the same thing in Iran, a country we are told is full of ignorant and mindless fanatics and we suddenly learn our enemy is filled with people who will put their lives on the line for free elections and the rights of their people in ways not seen in this country since the American Revolution.

Iran, our enemy, has an electorate that has stood up to the ignorant and bigoted clerics who have tried to rule the country with an iron hand.  Elections are all the freedom Iran has left and the people there are coming out by the millions to defend freedom and try to establish a democracy.

Democracy.

Iran is afraid of having a government like Pakistan and Egypt, 2 prime allies of the United States that pretend to be democracies but operate like brutal dictatorships.

Iran, whose candidates are screened through a bizarre process, even worse than the horrific primary process in the US where wealthy doners select candidates who are subjected to character assassination and blackmail by special interest groups and a media controlled by foreign financial interests that may actually have ties to international terrorism.  If only this were a joke.

If we did manage to nominate or elect someone we liked, many American suspect that a "lone gunman" would remove him from the scene as has happened so conveniently in our recent past.  We used to have to dig around to find "lone gunmen."  Now we have thousands of trained snipers who are both mentally disturbed and have years of contacts with our intel agencies.  This is progress.

With Iran, our supposed enemy, the only Islamic democracy in the Middle East, and their populace far more politically active and well informed than our own, the humiliation that Americans should be feeling, especially those trolling thru Fox News, NewsMax, TownHall, Limbaugh and others, listening to voices that supported the dissolution of democratic freedoms and free elections in America itself, should be staggering.  Imaging Limbaugh’s "tea bagging" fiasco, trying to rouse country club types to join with white supremists for a luke warm whining spree.  Please, what’s next?

Turning to inciting murder and terrorism?

Nearly every group claiming to be patriotic in America supported crooked elections.  The same people, a deranged minority of ignorant, racists, domestic terrorists and fraudulent government contractors are trying to mobilize their sadly small numbers to scream their shock and hatred that America is pulling itself out of the totalitarian rathole their ignorance and fear put it into.

Those of us who work for fair treatment of veterans and a rational foreign policy not dictated by oil companies and defense contractors face the remains of our dictatorship, crooked judges, crooked prosecutors, crooked VA officials and the administrative nightmare we have been saddled with after years of lying and stealing instead of governing and serving has crippled every aspect of America.

Iran may never have the government they elected.  It took us 8 years and a total economic collapse to get some of our freedoms back.

The United States gave Iran, by force, a brutal dictatorship under the Shah.  When he fell, we made an enemy of the most powerful nation in the region, one most capable of democratic advances.  Instead, they sunk into relIgious anarchy and war.

Sound familiar?  Sound like the Bush Administration years?

Then you know what Iran is afraid of.
