With the expectation that troops will be moving into the work force in the years ahead, American Airlines and American Eagle have formed a veterans group that will focus on promoting the contributions of veterans and active-duty military employees.The group also will take on the role as liaison between the airline and representatives of the armed forces. American, a subsidiary of AMR Corp. (NYSE: AMR), said it is the first group of its kind in the U.S. airline industry.
The veterans group has been involved in programs including the Wounded Warrior Rodeo Roundup, Operation Iraqi Children, the National Memorial Day Concert and Parade.American Airlines is the ninth largest commercial-passenger airline at Portland International Airport, according to the Portland Business Journal’s 2009 Book of Lists
