Two pounds of mercury spill at VA hospital

PHOENIX, June 17 (UPI) — Phoenix firefighters say they sealed off part of the city’s Veterans Administration hospital

after two pounds of mercury spilled during construction work. No one was injured in the spill Tuesday evening; however the Arizona Republic said Wednesday that three workers had to under go decontamination and were tested for exposure.The dangerous heavy metal was inside a pipe and spilled out when the pipe was cut by workers.
