Program teaches veterans how to start own business

A training program for veterans who want to start their own businesses will be offered this summer on Fleming Island.The Small Business Development Center at the University of North Florida, in partnership with WorkSource Florida, will present Veterans Entrepreneurial Training beginning Tuesday, June 30, according to a news release from the center.

     

The five-week course is "designed to help veterans who may aspire to start a business hone the skills needed to create, manage and grow a successful business," according to the release.

The fee is $50 for veterans, $25 for service-disabled veterans. Participants must provide a copy of their DD214 and Service Related Disability Letter (if applicable) prior to the start of the first session. To register, call 620-2476.

The course will be held 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning June 30 and continuing July 7, 14, 21 and 28, at WorkSource-Fleming Island, 1845 Town Center Blvd., Suite 150.

Since 1976, the UNF Small Business Development Center has helped more than 30,000 small businesses in an 18-county area, according to the release. Located at UNF’s University Center, the agency provides assistance through management advice and technical training with little to no-cost to potential, fledgling and/or well-established small business owners.
